hello...:)
Sorry for the late post, I have been running around like crazy all day. I don't have anything new to show you but I do have a bit of news.
A little birdie told me that it was the fabulous Miss Bree's birthday this weekend. I am challenging all of you to make her a lovely handmade card, post it and link it up here. She may not get it in the mail before her birthday but at least she will get to see all the lovelies you create.
Have fun and I'll see you next week!

More Tea and Sweet Cakes for You!
Greetings to you on this wonderful Tuesday! Michelle here! I had a ton of fun with the Tea and Sweet Cake kit this week, and I have two projects to share!
The first one is an "Idea Catcher" book. I made this book to catch ideas (hence the title - nothing like stating the obvious - LOL) such as sketches for future layouts, quotes, color schemes I want to try, etc:I made the title by putting the white fuzzy letters down (somewhat gently so they stick but not too much) and then sponging black paint over the top. Then I lifted the letters back up before the paint dried. The simple stars and moon are just hand-drawn on the patterned paper and cut out. The strings they are hanging from are just doodled with a journaling pen.
Then I covered the inside cover with patterned paper and added a quote (click on the pic to see the detail):
The back was super easy - I covered it with the coordinating cardstock and added another scalloped strip of polkadots to tie in with the front cover. Stamped a little bird and I was done.I can't wait to start filling it up! This is going to be fun!
Okay, the second project is one I made last week and forgot to post - OOPS! It's a layout featuring my sweet cat Johnny and his blue sparkly ball (he loves that thing). Everything in the layout is from the kit except for the black paint around the edges. I love how I happened to get the big letters J and 5, cuz one of my absolute fave groups growing up was the Jackson Five, who were called the J5 by many! Perhaps you didn't need to know that but I couldn't help sharing. :0) Anyways, it worked perfectly for this layout since Johnny is currently five years old! I pinked the edges of the cards to mimic the houndstooth a little bit, and fringed out the pink ribbon - it's supposed to resemble a cat dangler toy (at least in my mind anyway-LOL) and I doodled a little on the green strip at the top.
I hope you like these projects! I'd love to see what you have been making with the kits! Have a great week everyone and I will see you next Tuesday!

Leaving evidence behind
I just wanted to pop in and say hello. I got some pretty sad news today, as one of the girls on one of the boards I frequent died this morning (or yesterday morning, not sure which). And though my heart is really heavy, it's been such a blessing to go back into her gallery and see how much she loved her husband, her children, and her friends. It's evident in her layouts and in her projects. So with that in mind, I just wanted to post a little note reminding us why we scrap. So often I get caught up in over the top artsy stuff, expressing myself creatively, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. But then I want to leave out the journaling, the stories behind the pictures because it might "mess up" my work. In actuality, one day my kids are going to want to know the stories. So I want to be more intentional in my subject matter, journal more thoroughly and be sure that my family is left with evidence showing them and telling them how much I love them. My friend's family now has all her work and will cherish it forever, as I'm sure we all want are families to be able to do the same.

Greetings!
Hi everyone! Michelle here wishing you a happy Tuesday! How is your January going? Mine has been COLD! It got down to 19 below (F) here in Minnesota this past week! I'm so excited tho because it was 20 above yesterday and it's supposed to get up above freezing this week - YEAYYY!!!
Anyways, I've got another project to share with you - it's a card! I was needing some inspiration, so I checked out the current challenge at the Caardvarks blog; and it was to create a card based on their sketch of the week. Here's what I came up with:Everything is from the January Tea and Sweet Cake kit. I used a sharpie to outline the white flowers to make them pop a little more, and to doodle around the edges of the yellow squares. I also used pop dots to raise the little girl off of the polkadot paper. The lace is just bunched up and stapled on.
I hope you like it!
So I've been looking at that Lotus Blossom Chipboard book, and I have some ideas... I hope I can put my ideas into action and share the finished book with you next week! Til then - have a great week and happy scrapping!

2 layouts to share
What's up?
Here are the two first layouts I did with the January kit! I received it on December 24th and I was so trilled when I say it! It's a gorgeous kit, full of possibilities! And I was so excited to see the fabulous Doodlebug velvet letters! I knew there were some made with glitter, but not velvet. LOVE them!
Anayway, this first layout, about my grand-parents' 50th wedding aniversary, displays an handmade ribbon flower. To see how I did it, check out on the forum. There are full of pictures to show it.
The second layout is about the fact that I seem to always be lost in my head, in my dreams, in my projects. And the title is also a song title. See how I used the packaging of the Prima flowers.

Have a nice week! Hope it's not as freezing as here! lol

Love of a Lifetime
I was so ecstatic to get my January kit while I was still at the beach! There's nothing like getting scrappy mail delivered to you, on your birthday no less! I immediately opened the package, and fell in looooove with what I saw. This month I'm designing with Camille's Jazz Cafe kit, and it is just gorgeous! I cranked out this LO in no time, it's almost like it made itself. I love the Prima lollipop flower, and to put a little more bling on the page, I spruced it up with the Glitz rhinestones in the center. Then I used the black sparkly trim as "leaves". I loved adding the bling, so I decided to accentuated the title with some too. Anyway, this is my first LO of the kit, and I'm sure there's more to come. There's so many possibilities!

Hi there....
I hope everyone is having a great Wednesday! I wanted to say thanks to everyone who participated in our online crop on Saturday. It was so much fun! There was such a diverse group of challenges...a little something for everyone. I was hoping to have my mini book done by now but I was too busy with the crop to finish. I will definitely post it next week.
Here are the layouts that i completed for the crop. The first one uses some of the fab Lucy Folch paper from the January kit...
The other one is in response to Bree, Camille and Kim's challenges.
Have a great day!!

More News from the Online Crop...
Happy Tuesday everyone! Michelle here, and I am still reeling from the fun of Saturday nite here at the Crop! It was so much fun cropping the nite away with my Crop Suey friends, and I have loved seeing what everyone did with the challenges! I'm excited to show you how mine turned out too!
This was my layout for Bree and Camille's challenge of using Teal, Red and Black with something sparkly and something that pops! I did an 8 x 8 layout featuring my boys:Next, Kim's challenge was to create a ribbon flower and add it to a layout. It was fun to learn this new technique! I added mine to my layout above - it's the red lace flower with the white sculpted button! Oh, and did you notice I used my very last Crop Suey dictionary flower from the very first Crop Suey kit! I was waiting for the perfect time and this was it! Yeayyy!
Okay, the next challenge was Kristina's where you had to use something old (I used a page from a 1980s dictionary to make the snowflakes at the top); something new (the Jenni Bowlin vintage star background paper), something borrowed (here you had to lift a design team member's layout - I chose to lift Kristina's "Photos by Sam" layout); and something blue - (the acrylic paint and cardstock). I ended up with this 6 x 12 layout:
and finally - my challenge was to create a collage from magazine clippings - I ended up with this:
One of my scrapping goals for this year is to introduce a lot more variety into the sizes and shapes of layouts I create, so this felt like a good start - three layouts - three sizes! Yeay!
So I'm glad everything went so well and I can't wait for our next crop! Thanks so much to everyone who participated! Don't forget if you missed out on the crop, you can still create any of these projects by scrolling down - the instructions are still there! If you do, link us up - we'd love to see what you create!
I've been busy tonight working on another layout with the January kit. I'm loving it! But - it's not done yet, so I will have to wait til next week to share it with you! Until then, have a wonderful scrappy week my friends!

What a blast...and some prizes are coming your way...
We had so much fun playing around yesterday.
I trucked all my stuff over to Bree's house. We sent our DHs out to a movie and played along with you girls for the evening...
...it was so much fun.
Making LOs with someone else challenge always stretches me to do something I wouldn't normally do! I loved every challenge and actually got 3 nice LOs done last night.
Bree got inspired by Crop Chick Michelle's last post, she saw her LO and the cool way that she displays/stores her Christmas cards and set to work creating "one last thing" before we threw in the towel for the night
It was a blast.
Thank you so much to all the gals who stayed with us yesterday and kept creating up until the bitter end...
...I believe Michelle was still going strong when we turned off the computers at 12:30. I tried to stay awake with coffee (and I even made it strong!), but it was no use. I had had a long day and still had to pack up and get myself and the family home.
Needless to say it was a great night...I had SOOOOOO much fun!
We are sending some Crop Suey prizes out to some gals who really made some creative LOs for the challenges.
Kudos to Julie Tucker:
Kudos to Tanya:
Here's a link to her LO!
And another one!
Kudos to Amanda Ann:
Here's a link to her LO!
An another one!
I've tried to upload the actual LOs, but was not able to. Blogger has issues with me today.
Please send us your addresses and we'll get something in the Post to you. Julie, I will include it in your kit that I am sending out on Monday!
Once again it was so much fun! I'll leave you with Bree's and my Intuitive Challenge LOs.
Bree's:
Camille's:
Have a great week!
Camille

9:00 o'clock challenge
Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.
Something old: an item you have had in your stash for awhile. i used some sass from a previous crop suey kit.
Something new: something that you just got. I used papers from the latest crop suey kit.
Something borrowed: I scraplifted my fellow dt member TracyP.
Something blue: paper
My challenge is to do all of these things, except you can lift any previous dt member layout.
Here's my layout:
And here is the one I lifted from Tracy. :)

7:00 Challenge - Intuitive Collage!
Hi everyone - are we having fun yet? I know I am! It's 7:00 and I have what I think is going to be a fun, stress-free challenge for you. I call it an intuitive collage, and here's what I want you to do.
Step one:
Take about two minutes and silently think about the coming year. Think about what you are grateful for, and what your wishes and dreams are.
Step two:
Now, pull out a pile of old magazines, and start paging through them, pulling out any images that appeal to you - don't overthink it! Just be thinking about 2009 and pulling out any images you like. They don't need to represent a specific wish or anything. Just pull and tear like a child at play. I would take about a half-hour to do this.
Step three:
Make a layout - any size, from your magazine images. Optional - include a picture of you right now, or a symbol that represents you. This is all about process and setting intentions so just fill up your page with the images anyway you want.
When you are done you will have an intuitive collage! I have done this a number of times, and it's always amazing to me to see the results. I can usually find a lot of meaning that I wasn't consciously thinking about when I cut and pasted my images.
I am going to do this along with you tonight, but for reference, here's one I did a few years ago. I chose to mount it on a big piece of posterboard which I cut into a circle. Tonight I think I will do a 12 x 12 layout.Post a link here to your finished product so we can all see the results! Have fun!

My challenge!
So here's my challenge. You've got to make and add to your layout a flower made with ribbon or lace.
Here's how I did mine and the layout I did with it!

Put the link or the picture of your layout just under this post. Can't wait to see what you'll make!
