So close to Monday...it's new kit time!

Hey all,

Monday is just around the corner and the realization that it's going to be June (ALREADY) is making me wonder where the first half of this year has gone!

Our kits are put together and we are ready for June 1st to roll on in!!

I'm playing with the kits tonight and they are soooooo much fun. You will love them when they are sitting in front of you in just a few short days!!

Here's something that I did the other day for the current challenge that is up at Scrapping Across the Universe!

Monday again!

Hey guys, here's a layout about my grand-father dressed up as a baseball player. Baseball is a passion in our family and it all started with this man!

I dry brushed paint here and there, for a more vintage and distressed look.

Sorry for the photo that looks green... it's not like that in real...!

Have a great week Crop Suey lovers!

Just another Manic Monday!

We have been experiencing such gorgeous weather these past few days,

I have barely logged on, which is very weird for me.
Camille and just spent most of the afternoon
relaxing on my deck with a diet Pepsi,
while the kids played in the pool and on the swing-set.
So with all that said...
I haven't gotten much done today.
I have 4 NEW Video Tutorials Ready and waiting to go.
And more in the works.

Have you ever wondered what UTEE is?
Have you ever wanted to know what to do with it?
Tune into tomorrows Webisode for the start of our new
Handmade Embellishments Tutorials.

I would love to hear your ideas and tips, and tricks,
Maybe we can answer a question for you?
Let us know, we would love to hear from you.

I'll leave you with this...

See ya tomorrow

May is almost over...already???

Bree and I are ready to reveal our June kits, it's hard to believe that it's only a week away.

Every month seems to go by more quickly...that could have something to do with the warmer weather.

Bree and I are itching to tell you what's in the new kits, but know that we must be patient.

Also, Bree's been shopping again and we have TONS of great vintage stuff to "beef" up the kits.

We were saying that we needed "new" old stuff and Bree has found it.

So, just a short note today and I'll get the OK from Bree to give you all some sneak peaks tomorrow!!

Until then,
Camille

How did we end up at Thursday?

It seems as though it should only be Tuesday...that long weekend thing has really thrown me off.

I am loving all the great projects that Jocelyn has made. What a fabulous artist she is! I love the canvas, I have a hard time mustering up the courage to try new and different things.

Just a couple of things for you today.

First, we are still waiting for a couple people to get back to us for the Pebbles Giveaway...

Lynn Anne Cutler
Deanna (auntdeanie)

If we don't get your address, we cannot send the goodies to you...and they are truly fabulous!!

Ok, so I've really been trying to use up all the great paper I have in my scraproom that is part of the Crop Suey kits.

This one I made with some Cosmo Cricket Girl Friday paper...the stuff that was in the Sweet Potato Pie Kit...yummy!

I always journal on my LOs, it's the most important part for me. This LO was a result of a challenge that Bree set out for me...

She said "NO JOURNALING" (it was really hard for me to agree to this one)!

But here's what I came up with:

The journaling reads...NOTHING! Can you believe I did it?!?!?!

Anyhow, enjoy your Thursday...and if you think it's Tuesday (like me) enjoy your delusion (like me)!!!

A TUTORIAL by JOCELYN the Magnificent!

Magnificent
We asked Jocelyn to share a tip, or technique with Crop Suey during her reign with us here at Crop Suey and this is what she shared with us.
It is her first OFFICIAL CANVAS!
She used her 5 ALIVE kit for this Project

Here are her instructions:

I purchased a canvas from a Local Craft store, along with Gesso, Pink Acrylic Paint and a sponge brush!!!

I followed the directions on the Gesso and painted it all over the Canvas. I let it dry and then I took the pink paint and used some water to thin it out and painted the pink all over the canvas. I think took Glimmer Mist and sprayed that over the top of the paint!

Using my fingers the Gesso and some yellow and green paint, I painted to the flowers! I then took some watercolour pencils and did the centers of the flower!!!!

Isn't it gorgeous.
I love trying new techniques and tricks on my projects.
Don't hesitate to try new mediums, products, tools, or tricks....
that's half the fun...
and most of my FABULOUS TECHNIQUES
are usually something that happened by Accident.
I loved this project so much I am postponing my Webisode tutorial for next Tuesday.
I am in the process of creating a  video tutorial series based on handmade embellishments
using different mediums and techniques.
If there is something you want to see make sure you tune in on Tuesdays for this new and exciting Series from Crop Suey!]

Jocelyn's at it again!

Check out this new Layout by our girl Jocelyn...

"On this LO I did hand stitching and the pattern I made myself on a piece of paper!!!! I love cross stitching, and this was fun to do on paper!!!

This is a LO of Ava....she is my daughter's niece. She is the first girl born into the family in 17 years, so you can imagine how loved this little one is. I have now put the LO into a frame and it will be given to her Mommy!!!"

Thanks Jocelyn for another GORGEOUS project...
You are amazing and I dig your layout!

And I'll be back tomorrow to share my new Technique Tuesday with you
... ok, I know it'll be Wednesday but the long weekend has me confused?!?

A little more from Jocelyn!

Here is another LO from our Guest Designer

Jocelyn

One thing she really loves is all the green paper. This one is made with the gorgeous and yummy
5-Alive Kit. Check it out, it's filled with Mimosa, the new paper out from SEI.

Here it is:

Bree has also made some fabulous finds that I think she is going to share with you next week.
She was so excited to tell me about the great deals that she got, that we are going to pass onto you.

So, check us out tomorrow when we post the finalists for the Pebbles giveaway. The stuff is staring at us daily and we are really loving it.
We need to give it to you so that it stops tantalizing us every time we walk into the store!!

Enjoy your long weekend. I'm going camping and hoping that it won't snow here in Alberta (it's sad, but a reality nonetheless)

Later!

Three for Tea!

I've managed to get very little done this week with the million distractions I've had. But I did complete something that I wanted to share with you.

My DH and kids love to cuddle on the couch after meals.

I took a pic of the three together and put it on some paper from the Dandelion Tea kit. It is a simple LO, but one with tons of journaling.

Here it is:

Check in with us on Friday, because we will be posting some more of our Fabulous Guest Designer's work. Jocelyn has been such a blessing to us and we love what she is doing with the Crop Suey kits.

Also, check in on Saturday for the finalists for the Pebbles Giveaway.

REFRESHMENTS ANYONE?

The new 5- ALIVE kit is AMAZING!

I love how refreshing it feels and how hungry it makes me for more.

I created a few simple cards for friends
and wanted to share them.

I created a pocket with my sewing machine
so I could put  a gift card into the design... always a nice thank you gift
(thats a velvety flocked paisley sticker)
And you get these super fabulous velvet flocked stickers in the kit,
which aren't my usual style.. but are PREFECT for card making.
(the smile sentiment is the velvety sticker)
I also used my SLICE Machine  with the Noteworthy Design Card
to create the bracket shape journalling block.
(one of my favorite new tools)

I hope you enjoyed this post...
Camille and I are off on adventure tomorrow
to bring you a FABULOUS Webisode on Wednesday..

And stay tuned for the new technique tomorrow, on Technique Tuesday!

A little Saturday visit...

Hi all,

It's Saturday and beautiful in Edmonton, Alberta. We've been waiting for Spring to become Summer for quite a few weeks...it isn't "HOT" outside, but the promise of warm mornings is in the air.

I had some fun playing with Dandelion Tea again last night. I wasn't sure where I was going with the LO, it sort of just came together.

I kept pulling out tidbits here and there, wanting the page to have a little bit of everything. I was planning on having a busy LO, but the final product did not end up that way. It is fun for me, I like the pinks and yellows together. I love LOs because of the pics, and I love the way my DD's eyes are speaking volumes in this one!

So, here it is.
Enjoy your weekend and...

...to all the Mothers out there...I pray you are spoiled by your children, grandchildren and husbands!

WELCOME Jocelyn

When We asked Jocelyn to Guest Design for us this month
I was soo excited. Not only is she a fabulous Scrapbooker, but also an amazing girl.
I asked her for a short little bio for us, so here it is...

I began my love for papercrafting making cards about 11 years ago!!! My mother and I joined a stamp club and it has been an ongoing process from that point forward!!!! I began scrapbooking after the birth of my first grandson Evan Matthew 6 1/2 years ago!!!! I fell in love with scrapbooking and have never looked back!!!! We had a second addition to our family 19 months ago, Gavin Joseph and now I have tons of inspiration!!!! My husband is just the best. He helped me to create my creating space and even visits LSS's to shop with me and give me ideas for titles for my pages!!!!!

Scrapbooking is so rewarding to me. It gives me time to sit down and take a breather from life!!!!  I adore looking through my photos and seeing the pics that I have taken! The memories flood back to me and my hopes are, that the family will always have these memories to hold on to the rest of their lives!!!!

I have met so many wonderful ladies both in real life and on the net!!!! The times that we share, whether it is a phone call, Scrapbook Club or Blog visits are so important to me!!!! The friendships, the support and even hours of chatting on the phone about ideas and techniques are so much!!! I think we can all use a little more FUN in our lives. I always look for the simple things in life that bring a smile to my face!

I want to thank you at Crop Suey for this wonderful opportunity!!! I am so excited about spending time with all of you!!!!!  Let's make this Month of May a great experience for all of us!!!!!!

As you many know by visiting my Blog, my Faith, my Family and my Love for Life are so very important to me!!!! Please feel free to stop by and share what is most important to you!!!!!

As always, love ya girlies!!!!!

Jocelyn

Isn't she FABULOUS?
I was so happy when I woke up this morning
to see her first layout done with the 5 ALIVE kit
It is gorgeous.. Jocelyn you are amazing,

In honor of Mother's day this Sunday she created this layout as a tribute to her Mom.
What a great idea... and what a beautiful page.
You have inspired me to make a tribute to my Mom this week.
We are so glad to have Jocelyn as a part of our little family,
so lets leave her some love and welcome her here!

AND HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

A little Dandelion Tea...

We had our National Scrapbooking Day crop over the weekend and it was so much fun to get some pages done.

Bree and I had tons of fun creating...I have to admit that Bree got so much more done than me. She was on a roll and did some amazing projects. I was spending my time admiring her creations instead of working on my own!

Here's one I created with the Dandelion Tea kit. I created my own scalloped edge using a punch and I really like how it turned out...now I know that I can create my own die cut paper if I can't find the right one from the ones I already have!

I used a few elements from past kits, the title strip is from Cocoa Critters!
I hope everyone enjoyed the weekend and that most of you took advantage and attended one of the many crops that were happening on National Scrapbooking Day!!!

Also, be sure to email us your submissions for the Pebbles Giveaway, we can hardly wait to send someone all those goodies!

Fortune Cookies anyone...

I thought these would be sweet to give a Momma for Mothers day instead of a card...The fortunes say things like, smile you are fabulous, or go jump in a rain puddle, or love, beacuse you are loved. The Tea & Sweet cakes kit worked perfect for this fun little project! Cant wait to give it to My Mom!

And a Sweet Layout....

Technique Tuesday

HOW TO MAKE A POP TAB BRACELET!
I thought I would mix it  up a bit, hope you like it..

Step One:
Cut cord to approximately 36"
Then loop through the first tab, situating
the tab at center of cord.

Step Two:
Hold another tab below your first tab,
(make sure your rough edges are always
facing each other, smooth side to the outside)
overlapping so you can see through openings
of both tabs. Thread the cord up from the
bottom through both tabs, bringing top cord
through top hole and bottom cord through
bottom hole.

Step Three:
OK, now get another tab and hold it on top,
overlapping as before, and this time, thread
the cords through the opposite holes forming
an X on top.

Step Four:
Another tab, held at the back and thread
those cords through, top cord-top hole,
bottom cord-bottom hole.

Step Five
:
Another tab, held on top, thread cords
through forming that X.
Top cord-bottom hole, bottom cord-top hole.

Step Six:

Keep going, repeating step four and step five,
alternately, until bracelet can be wrapped
around your wrist and ends meet comfortably.
You need the last tab to be one placed at the back side.
Then, bring ends together and form final X

Step Seven:
Turn bracelet over and thread cords
under cord from previous tab..

Step Eight:
Tie the cords in a knot and trim the ends

Step Nine:
Turn bracelet back over and slide it on your wrist.
There should be just enough stretch to easily go
over your hand and then be lightly snug on your wrist.

There’s plenty of ways to embellish these bracelets, too. You can paint the tabs, use colored elastic, add beads, anything you can think of.

I used beads and added a button closure to this one!

And here are some other ideas I pulled off the WEB!
