It's Great To Be Back!

Happy Tuesday everyone! It's Michelle here - back from my vacation with some new projects to share!

Scrapping was so much fun tonight! I've been working on my entry for the brand new Scrapping Across The Universe Challenge blog! The challenge was to use the opening scene of the movie (a beach scene) for inspiration. The picture is of my hubby Michael and stepson Steve, taken on our family vacation this year. I've been waiting for just the right inspiration to scrap this photo that I love so much, and the challenge was just what I needed! Here's what I came up with:
I used Bree's October "Want Smore?" kit! I just love the vintage look to the happy camper paper! I painted the Riff Raff acorn with acrylic paint to give it some extra depth, and tore pieces of the map that came with the kit to make the leaves by the acorn. I also used a piece of the packaging from the alphabet stickers to make the striped edging below the photo. The fabric is a vintage thrift store find. On the bottom left-hand corner is a piece of birch-bark that I gathered on the trip. I used my favorite tool - the crop-a-dile - to punch holes in the bingo numbers and attached them with my paper tagger. They represent the date of the photo. That paper-tagger thing is pretty fun - this was my first time using it! It's kinda cool because the numbers dangle and give a little movement to the page.

I made the second layout with Bree's September "Over The Rainbow" kit! That kit is going a looonnnnggg way - it's packed with goodies folks! Anyway, it's a picture of my sweet cat Johnny (who by the way is sitting on my lap right now as I type this - pal that he is!):
I finally busted into the handmade Crop Suey paper with the cute forest critters on it! I love that stuff! Everything is from the kit except the plain cardstock and most of the buttons. The journaling reads: "Johnny is thoroughly enjoying his transition to life in the suburbs." LOL. It's so true! When I married Michael I moved to the suburbs and the cats have never been happier - they've got more room and so many birds and squirrels to watch!

Okay, last but not least I wanted to share with you a little souvenir I made for myself with some guitar picks I got on our trip to Nashville:

Once again I used my trusty crop-a-dile to punch holes in the guitar picks, strung on a couple of beads in my fave colors and tah dah! - funky souvenirs to hang from my ears! P.S. They are dangling from a roll of paper towels that I happened to have in my scraproom - not toilet paper! HA.

Alrighty then - I best get going to bed since it's late here in Minnesota. It's been great chatting with ya! I'd love to see what you've been making with the kits - link us up!!!
