Technique Tuesday!

I've have something that's fun and messy to share with you. Bree can attest that this technique is a stretch for me.
While browsing Claudine Hellmuth's book, I thought I would share a fun technique -texturizing with Gesso.
It's easy, fun and messy (but then I already mentioned that!)

Here's what you'll need:

Then you get to work, cover the canvas with Gesso, then use rubber stamps, tools or anything that you can find to add texture to your work. I used a Tupperware cake decorating tool to add texture.

Let your canvas dry (overnight preferably). Then take your paint and cover your work.
Take a wet towel and wipe off paint where you want it.
Then add color where you want, I used my paint to frame the edges a little more. I also added a final touch with some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist.
And, here's what the end product looks like:

A great BIG thanks to Claudine Hellmuth and all those great artists who help me get creative...and that's not easy to do for me some days!!

Enjoy!

Let's start a new week!

Aren't the sneak peeks of the April kits exciting? I personnaly can't wait to see what Camille and Bree come up with this time! I love it when a new month is approching cause it means there's a new kit (two, in fact) coming up!!!

As I am waiting for my kit to arrive (I think the post lady decided not to give it to me but to keep it for herself!!!), I'm here to show you a layout I did last week, while cropping with fantastic girls I have never met. I mean, we knew each other and chatted, but never met in person... Isn't it awesome how friendship can develop because of the internet!

So here is my layout with the Girl Friday line... and no, Bree, I didn't do it on Friday!!!! lol!!!

The layout is about the fact that this little girl didn't ate before the age of 4 or 5... and that simply watching her eat carrots was for us a great moment... a simple moment we waited for for a long time...

Have a great week!

How do you follow up "Winner Winner Chicken Dinner"?

I am so excited for Adrienne.

Congrats girl...

Bree and I are chomping at the bit to let the cat out of the bag...so I'm going to loosen the knot just a little (wow, there were a whole lot of farm girl expressions in that one sentence...a little bit of my youth coming through).

Here's a sneaky peaky for y'all.

I'm sure that's too much for some of you...but it's something right?

I'm working on one last LO with my Sweet Potato Pie kit, it's not completely done...I'll post it at the beginning of next week (before the end of the month of course)!

Keep leaving links to your Vintage work and I'll pick a winner of the RAK next Tuesday!

Have a great weekend,
Camille

Webisode 2 Check It OUt!

Technique Toodie!

LOl.. so I just couldn't get it out right this morning when Camille and I were chatting...
so Technique Tuesday is here... even if I cant say it properly...

Check it out!
Peeling Paint Technique
You will need:

a canvas or layout....... finished
Acrylic paint
Vaseline
paint brush
Baby  wipes or paper towels

So I decided to do this on a canvas.. that didn't look finished..
it needed a little something something!

So the first step is to cover your canvas or layout with vaseline,
put it on the parts you want the paint to peel.
These parts will show at the end.
Paint your entire project with your acrylic paint
Make sure you paint right over the vaseline covered parts
Let your paint dry...
or use a heat gun if you are impatient like me...
Then use your wipes or a wet paper towel and start removing / pulling the paint!
And this is what it will look like in the end!

A couple of close ups... of where I pulled the paint

So thats it.
A very simple but very cool and effective distressing technique!
Hope you guys liked it..
hope it was something you havent done before but have to try now!

And come back tomorrow for or second Webisode Wednesday...
videos from our crop and a quick technique from the fabulous Candace!

Come check us out!

Another LO from our March kits!

One more LO for you from Bree's Chocolate Bunnies Kit.
I've been playing around with my Sweet Potato Pie kit and will show you what I made with it on Monday.
For now, here's a LO I made with some more Sassafrass!

My son decided to start dancing for us at his birthday party last summer. He really wanted me to take a picture. Now, my DH did not want me to scrap this pic...but what mom wouldn't?

The title says: "Embarrassing Probably Priceless Absolutely"
And...although you can't see it, I adhered the pic to one of the chipboard pages that come in the kit.

A fun little LO for you!

Camille

Who loves FREE RUSTY PICKLE?

(Camille, Lance, Bree)

Okay so we have been holding on to
the photos and stuff from our big Retailers event that happened  a few weeks ago.

One of the highlights for me was meeting Lance from Rusty Pickle.
He was fabulous and very informative...
Here he is in his PINK shirt... teaching a KISS card make-and-take class...lol
And they wonder why few men get into this hobby?

We were lucky enough to take a class from him
a mini book titled "Lucky Me"
And YOU ARE LUCKY ENOUGH....
to have a chance to win an 8x8 Mini book kit,
the one of  this class... A $55 Value!

Here is mine..
All you have to do is leave a comment here,
get your friends to leave a comment here,
telling us who sent them... and the person with the most wins....
We all need a little friendly competition now and then...  right?

We will announce the winner next Friday.. so get chatting....

Some more Chocolate Bunnies...

I've been having so much fun with the Woodland Whimsy in Bree's Chocolate Bunnies Kit. It's been fun, the scalloped borders on the paper are so cute!

Here is my "Big Girl" LO
I also dug out the French paper dolls that were a part of my first kit, "For Starters"! The colors were perfect for this LO. It was also fitting for my DD's first day of Sunday school.

Bree and I have been pretty busy over the last few weeks. We just finished an amazing weekend and are already getting the wheels rolling on the next crop coming up on May 1st and 2nd.
Be sure to register early because we can only accommodate 40 people, then we are FULL UP!

Also, April is just around the corner...and Bree is not going to be able to contain herself much longer with her sneaky peaks...

So, should I be the one to let the cat out of the bag?

Let's say this: Bree's kit is filled with one pretty new manufacturer... Can you guess who?

That's all I can say without Bree's permission, but then I guess this gives her permission to reveal her own sneaky peak (she may post some pics too...)!!

One more thing, check out our new forum...it's so much better than our previous one...

Later,
Camille

Technique Tuesday- How to make Pebbles

So I am in love with these new pebbles
( i wont say who made them.. just in case)
They are absolutely DIVINE.
But they are also crazy crazy expensive.
So I am going to show you how to make a bunch for only $1..
You will need the following....
Epoxy (Any brand will do, I am using Ranger in this photo)
Glass marbles, you can find them in the floral department of the dollar store for a buck.
Scrap papers (from your Crop Suey Kits of course)
Scissors,
and magnets (Optional)
Clean your glass pebbles and spread a thin even coat of epoxy onto the flat side of the stone.
Attach desired scrap paper to the epoxied side.
Let dry over night, if possible.
Trim scrap paper around the pebble so that you cannot see the edges.
This is what they will look like..
I made these one with my Cocoa Critter kit scraps
and some of Camilles Cosmo Cricket Girl Friday paper.. and more.

You can turn these little beauties into magnets by attaching magnet strips you can pick up at Michael's.

Most magnet strips have sticky backing, cut into pieces and attach to the back of your pebble.

I used one here for the center of my paper blossom, on a layout.
Here's one on its on, on a layout.
And another on a layout in a cluster.
I hoped you enjoyed this little technique..
And don't forget to visit every week for Technique Tuesday!

We would love to see your pebbles...
email your projects to shopcropsuey@gmail.com
and maybe your project will end up here.. on our blog.

Technique Tuesday!

Today, I'm going to share a little something that started at a Cosmo Cricket make and take.
We're going to make paper flowers and add a little dimension to your page by curling your paper.

Here's what you'll need.
Take your choice of papers, cut them into strips.
Take your scissors and fray the edge, then take a skewer and use it to help you curl up the ends of the paper (on one side only, as the next sheet will cover the "uncurled" side).
Set the strips aside.

Now for the flower. Punch out 8 flowers, 4 ea of two sizes. Ink around the edges.
Then take the flowers, fold in half and staple the center.
Once stapled, layer the flowers on top of each other (bigger flowers on the bottom) -adhere while layering them up.
Then take the strips and flower and adhere them to your page. You can also add some strips of ribbons to add texture to your LO.
Easy peasy right? I thought it was a simple idea that could make a nice LO in a short amount of time.
Give it a try! We would love to see what you make with these techniques. Send us your creations and we may post them on our blog. Give it a try...and have some fun!
